Science and Storytelling: Enjoy learning the arts integration technique of storytelling to teach the sciences. By weaving reality with fiction Lynn Moroney, a skylore specialist, will teach you how to mesmerize your listeners from adults to middle school students to toddlers tucked in bed. Up to 2 hours. For age 12 to Adult.
Drawing Astronauts (and Astrochimps) For ages 10 and up. Author and illustrator Richard Hilliard will show young artists how to draw a portrait of America's first space pioneer, Ham the Astrochimp, along with other historic space figures and vehicles. All materials will be supplied at the workshop.
Find your Inner Star: This experiential workshop introduces you to the same Inner Light-Fire Star that has guided wise men and women throughout the ages. Steeped in the Agni Yoga tradition, you will learn to uplift your lower energy frequencies and to light up your life and our planet with your revived creativity. Led by former Discovery Channel VP, George Pierson. Up to 2 hours. For age 16 to Adult.
Storytelling with sound effects workshop: Learn the names of some world percussion instruments and then have to opportunity to become the sound effect players during a short story performed by Dr. Gail Herman. 30 minutes- 40 minutes. Ages 4 - 12 with parents
Mime workshop: Starting with isolation warm-ups, exaggerations, and the clic, participants will develope quickly to learn mime illusions such as The Walk, The Wall, The Ladder, The Tightrope, Handling Objects or Small Animals in the Park, The Rope, and more. Participants will be able to share one of their favorite mime pieces for each other in small groups with Dr. Gail Herman as their silent teacher. 20-30 minutes - Ages 7- Adult
Find your Storytelling Voice...and face... and body: Dr. Gail Herman will teach you how to develop a vocal variety and voices for telling. Also learn the importance of signature postures, facial expression, and story structures. The group will practice a brief story to retell (or develop a brief story to retell to a small group). 45 min. Ages 7-12 Younger children who are interested may also attend with their families.
Find your way in the Planetarium: Learn to read a planetarium sky and lead others through a celestial tour. Led by John Meador of Northern Stars Planetarium. How to use a planetarium to get yourself, your students or your children get excited about the universe. 90 minutes 16 - Adult
